Took him with a 26 Nosler. Rolled up and kicked a couple times. My experience with blacks is that they are just not that hard to kill but they’ve all been center punched in the boiler room.

I’m going to try the meat this year. Going to split it with the taxidermist he has a guy that he swears by, we’ll see. If it’s bad I’ll give it away at Christmas.

There are an incredible number of Sandhills up here. You have to apply for a permit, this allows for two the entire season.

My quickest limit on sandhill crane is a triple 18 minutes after legal shooting time. That would be a short season. Congrats on all the success up there again.

    This.

I think I'm hooked on trout fishing at the moment myself. Planning a long weekend fishing trip to Colorado as we speak.

Oh, I donít know about having earned it.

    Living it, yes.

My granddaddy who hunted, fishes and trapped all his life did so for sustenance. Always wanted to elk and moose hunt but never had time because he was always working. By the time he had the money he didnít have the body. He told me ď son do it while you can and enjoy it because if you wait until you are old enough you wonít.Ē
Kind of like having kids. Most can never ďreallyĒ afford them but we have them and enjoy them. Not saying make poor decisions but when is the last time you saw hearse pulling a uhaul.

Not about the money. You and the Mrs earned it back for turning a family tragedy into something positive. Those boys who just graduated are some lucky sob's.

1200 yards in 8 minutes? In that terrain? I'm guessing you've been training with Jet Black. That's a hump!!!
